FAQ

Can I register more than 1cm2 in my name?

If you have been able to get hold of multiple centimetres, you can register them under the same name. However, you will need to use a different e-mail address for each cm2. Each cm2 code that you register is unique and linked to a specific e-mail address.

If I don't have the actual 1cm2 keychain, can I still register a free piece of property?

As long as you have the code, you can still register your piece of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. But be sure to keep the keychain safe as it is a collector's item!

I would prefer to set up my company in a different area; do you have free 1cm2 there as well?

We are giving away 1cm2 throughout the entire Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. However, we have no say in which piece of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area you receive. If you are interested in doing business in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area we will be pleased to provide you with all the information you need. You can find additional information in the Grow business section.

I lost my keychain, can I get a new one?

Unfortunately, we don't have individual keychains. Each keychain is linked to a unique code. If you would like a new keychain, you will have to register again. Be sure to register using a different e-mail address. You can request a new 1cm2 by contacting: info@amsterdaminbusiness.com.

What do the keychains contain?

There are four different keychains, each containing a different soiltype: water, sand, asphalt or grass.

Can I change my 1cm2 for 1cm2 in another area?

When you register your 1cm2, you can select a public or private listing. A public listing means that owners of the last ten registered 1cm2 can view the location of your 1cm2 on the map and can see who you are. If you are interested in a 1cm2 owned by someone else, you are free to contact them. Amsterdam inbusiness will not mediate in this process, as we do not supply contact details to third parties.

The 1cm2 keychain is three-dimensional. So shouldn't it be 1cm3?

We are giving away pieces of property in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. Property is always specified in square metres/ centimetres. The keychain represents the piece of property and is 1cm3, but what we are actually giving away is one square centimetre of property.

My 1cm2 contains sand but when I look on Google Maps I see a building at that location. How is that possible?

When we created the website, we used the information that was available on Google Maps at the time. A lot happens in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area, such as the construction of new buildings and facilities. It is consequently possible that the landscape has changed and that this is reflected in an updated version of Google Maps. Please let us know if this is the case. However, amsterdam inbusiness cannot be held liable for changes made by third parties. See also our disclaimer.

Can rights be derived from ownership of the 1cm2 in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area?

We are giving you 1cm2 of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. No rights can be derived from ownership of this property. However, you can proudly tell your friends and business associates that this is your one square centimetre.

Can I build something on my piece of property? A building for example?

As we mentioned earlier, no rights can be derived from ownership of the square centimetre. However, if you manage to draft plans to build something on 1cm2 we would love to hear your suggestions. E-mail them to info@amsterdaminbusiness.com.
